Okay, so it’s not all new but 3CDs of Tom’s music will make November a month to remember. At over twenty three quid, it’s a bit on the pricy side but I can’t remember the last album of his I didn’t go out and buy on the first day. Damn, this is good news.

You have this one right on the money. As far as I am concerned, “Downtown train” and “I hope that I don’t fall in love with you” are two of the most perfect songs ever. I haven’t forgotten “Martha”, it is just that it is more a dirge than a song. Oh, the man is a genius and no mistake

Ah, Eliza. You’ve come over to my hideout. And a fellow Waitsian too. I love ‘Downtown Train’ but Rod ruined it for me. I tend to prefer his later albums with all the barnyard instruments, though, paradoxically, ‘Nighthawks at the Diner’ is my favourite album of all time. It has all my favourite lines in it and I just love that sleeze.
